Role Purpose For The Job Vacancy for Power Design Specialist At Vodafone Ghana

To undertake Power Planning, Strategy, Designing and implementation of AC and DC power requirements at Data Centres, Mobile Telephone exchanges, Fibre Hub sites, Retail Shops, and Internet Cafes to provide reliable power supply to all network elements.

Role Responsibility

•Undertake Power capacity analysis and problem findings focusing on major facilities by redesigning and implementation of requisite power requirements to cater for existing and future needs of the business.
•Prepare and implement power design policy for all new Power projects and Cooling requirements undertaken in Vodafone based on best practices to meet Vodafone expectations at Data Centres, MTX Site and Exchanges.
•Drive standardization and policies for all power products including renewable energy Systems used in the network to ensure Vodafone move away from using different types of equipment in the power space.
•Undertake all power designs, prepare tender documents, and evaluate bids for all Power and Cooling project at Data Centres, MTX Site and Exchanges and ensure successful implementation.
•Provide Operational and technical Support to stakeholders on power projects, procurement and management of all installations across the business including Transformers, Distribution Pillars, Diesel Engine Generators, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Synchronization Panels, Automatic Voltage Regulators, Air Circuit Breakers, Main Low Voltage (MLV) Panels, AC Distribution Boards, Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), Rectifier Systems, Storage Battery back-up systems (Lithium-ion and Lead Acid batteries), Inverter Systems, DC power distribution Frame and Boards, AC & DC Static Switches, Solar Power Systems, Earthing & Lightning Protection Systems and Building Management System (BMS).

Professional / Technical Competencies

•Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Telecommunications Engineering.
•Qualification in Project management (PRINCE2 or PMP) would be an added advantage.
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience in specialised power planning, power operations and maintenance and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in telecommunications.
•Specialised in Cooling Systems for Data Centres, Telephone Exchanges, Retail Shops and Cafes.
•In-depth knowledge in Renewable energy systems specifically Solar Systems.
•Experience in Budget planning and formulating power strategy
•Excellent I.T. and database skills. (MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.)
•Experience in managing vendors and analysing contracts and RFQs
