NPP Opens Sunyani East Parliamentary Primary Nominations

Nominations for the Sunyani East constituency’s NPP parliamentary primary have begun in the Bono Region. Starting today, Wednesday, February 14, the nomination period will end on Saturday, February 17. The National Patriotic Party (NPP) laid out the steps for prospective members of parliament in a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong. A non-refundable application fee of GH₵3,000 is required to acquire the nomination forms. To finish the nomination process, you must also pay a non-refundable filing fee of GH₵35,000. There is a 50% discount available for filing fees for women, adolescents, and those with impairments. In addition, the statement added that all candidates, except the current MP, are asked to pay an extra GH₵40,000 as party development costs. The party’s parliamentary primaries held on January 27, 2024, did not include the Sunyani East constituency or any of the other five.

NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY (NPP) OPENS NOMINATION FOR SUNYANI EAST PARLIAMENTARY PRIMARY ELECTION

The New Patriotic Party is pleased to announce the timelines for holding a parliamentary primary election in Sunyani East. The approved timelines are as follows:

Opening of Nomination: Wednesday, February 14, 2024 Closing of Nominations: Saturday, February 17, 20241. An Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate (APC) shall procure a nomination. Forms after the payment of a non-refundable application fee of GHC3,000.00 in Bankers Draft in favor of the NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, ACCRA.

2. To successfully file the nomination, an APC shall pay a non-refundable filing fee of thirty-five thousand Ghana cedis (GHC35,000.00) in Bankers Draft in favor of the NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, ACCRA.

3. However, women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) whosoever want to aspire to a higher political office will enjoy a 50% rebate on the filing fees. This means they will be required to pay a non-refundable filing fee. fee of seventeen thousand and five hundred Ghana cedis (GHC) 17,500.00). For the avoidance of doubt, a youth is a person whose age is between 18 and 40 years.
4. In addition to Point 3 above, all aspirant parliamentary candidates than the sitting Member of Parliament shall pay a party development fee. of forty thousand Ghana cedis (GHC40,000.00).

5. All payments shall be made by banker’s draft in favor of the new Patriotic Party National Headquarters.

6. No APC shall be denied access to purchase nomination forms. The party has also approved detailed rules and regulations to govern the conduct of the parliamentary primary election, which would be made available to stakeholders. However, nomination forms will be available at the regionalParty Office for purchase.
