An audio purported to be the voice the President Nana Addo is in circulation and trending. The president is heard saying: Teaching is not a job for one to become a millionaire.
The idea shared by the president that teaching is not a job for one to become a millionaire which is demoralizing has gotten many stakeholders annoyed and the profession disrespected. Below are sampled views of teachers on the audio suggesting becoming millionaires as teachers was not possible.
“Alright, thanks so much for the advice. We will be doing ‘other things’ as you say. NDC and NPP is the same. Highly disappointed.”
It’s very unfortunate for our president to sensibly insult the teaching profession like this. And how sad it is that our union leaders applauded him after this insult. Most hypocritical teachers who are blinded by this government will come and defend this unfortunate statement. It’s a pity. How teachers are ‘used’ by greedy politicians.
Let the President be schooled about the differences between a professional and an elected position. Let him also know that, University Professors are also teachers. Tell him it was teachers who conferred on him that honouraly doctorate he received from UCC recently.
Mr. President. Thanks for your new definition of teaching in Ghana. Very irritating annoying. Teachers should cross 7 rivers to teach and you call it sacrifice. Some have work for years and their salaries are locked up. Teachers should sacrifice for you opportunist politicians. If a President thinks this, way.Thanks for your advice.

Please, my dedicated teachers, don’t ever listen to such unfortunate submissions in your spirit. Work hard and plan well from the scratch.I thought a president is a public servant who’s to be serving his people, so are our MPs? some of them don’t have the qualifications that some teachers hold why not pay all workers according to qualifications so no one will desire to be a politician or doctor or lawyer or engineer rather than a teacher. Fire burn us all in a professional way..more fire.

According to President Nana Addo, teaching is a sacrificial job and that one can not teach and expect to become wealthy. This means persons seeking to become millionaires as teachers must reconsider the thought. He, therefore, advised teachers to have a side job. He added that although teachers do not deserve to be poor, the profession is just a contribution job to the welfare of society, the president asserted. He also admitted that the current condition of service for teachers is a poor one.

He made these things known when the executive body of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) met the leader of the country, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo as they prepare to celebrate 90 years of existence.

H.E. president of Ghana. I had been appointed as a headteacher of a basic school in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Muicipality since 2018 . Four years now l have not been paid a pesewa as my legitimate headship allowances.
Also l have been running the school from my own pocket since March 2020 to date.
What crime have l and others in the same situation committed to warrant this unfair treatment?
We are not asking for so much. Just give us what we are due to receive.
