Bernard Koku Avle, The General Manager of Citi FM and Channel One TV, has given motivation to the graduates of Academic City University. He motivated them to make use of their knowledge and skills to address real-world challenges and contribute to national development.

Mr. Koku addressed the graduates during the university’s 2026 graduation ceremony in Accra, On Friday, 5th June 2026. He urged the graduating class to uphold the values of excellence, integrity, and innovation. An insight from MR. koku’s experience in the media industry was shared. He recalled how a young team at Citi FM was able to compete successfully against established broadcasters through innovation, discipline, and belief in fresh talent.

He applauded Academic City University for its innovation-driven approach to education and its focus on emerging fields. These fields were Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Robotics Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, and Unmanned Aerial Systems Engineering. In addition, he hailed them for practical contributions to problem-solving. This included student-led innovations during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as the development of low-cost ventilators. “Always start with what you have been given. Translate knowledge gained from Academic City into insights that will solve problems,” he urged.

Lastly, he encouraged them to collaborate across disciplines, think creatively, and prioritize purpose over profit in their career choices. They should apply their learning beyond the classroom, noting that their real test would be in solving societal problems such as flooding, corruption, poor urban planning, and ineffective leadership.

In summary, Mr. Bernard Koku urged all graduates to apply their learning beyond the classroom.
