WASSCE for Private Candidates will be conducted twice a year – WAEC
The management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says effective 2025, it will conduct the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates twice a year.
Announcing the new changes on social media, WAEC said the national examination for private candidates will be conducted in the first and second series. The first it said will be administered in January and the second in October 2025.
Introduce purposely for Senior High School graduates to apply for tertiary admission early, registration for the new edition of the WASSCE for Private Candidates to begin in 2025 will start on Monday, October 21, 2024, and end on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
“Do you know that WASSCE for Private Candidates will now be conducted twice a year? The 1st series (WASSCE PC 1) will be in January and the 2nd series will be in October.
Take advantage of the two editions and secure your tertiary admission in good time. Registration starts on Monday, 21st October and ends on Tuesday, 31st December 2024,” the Examinations Council said in the social media post.
In a related development, the West African Examinations Council on September 30, 2024, ended registration for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates which commenced on February 5, 2024.
WAEC opened the 2024 Nov/Dec registration portal from Tuesday, April 2, 2024, to Friday, August 30, 2024, and later extended the registration deadline to September 30. The Nov/Dec will be held from October 25 to December 18, 2024.
“The WASSCE for Private Candidates will be conducted from Friday, 25th October, to Wednesday, 18th December, 2024. The registration portal will be open from Tuesday, 2nd April to Friday, 30th August 2024,” WAEC said in the blog post.
The not-for-profit organization has yet to release the timetable for the 2024 edition of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private candidates also known as Nov/Dec.
