School Feeding Programme for basic schools starts today

The School Feeding Programme for basic schools starts today, Tuesday 7th September 2021 for the third term. The programme once will run till the end of the term in December.

School children have been home for weeks due to the second term vacation. The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) managers have called on all caterers employed by the government to feed children under the programme to report to their various schools on Tuesday, September 7 as pupils resume after weeks of vacation.

School children in beneficiary schools would be feed under the programme on a daily basis.

There would be a total of 3,448,065 students who will benefit from the President Nana Akufo-disbursement Addo’s of money to clear the caterers’ 1st-semester arrears.

The National Coordinator, Dr Gertrude QuashigaH, stated this in a news release.

The caterers have cleaned their kitchens and implemented all COVID-19 protocols in advance of the program.

“All Caterers are also encouraged to put up good performance throughout the term to ensure that the beneficiary pupils are fed with the right quality and quantity of meal within the 67 school going days. Caterers should strictly observe the COVID-19 protocols in line with Government’s directive to mitigate the spread of the pandemic,” a portion of the statement read.

Additionally, the caterers have been commended for their perseverance, patience, and devotion to their profession.

To help alleviate the strain on the caterers, Dr Quashigah pleaded with President Akufo-Addo to approve their request for an increase in the per-child feeding stipend.
