All Is Set Now – WAEC Gives Updates On The 2023 WASSCE And BECE Questions
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has given an update on how it plans to set the 2023 WASSCE and BECE questions.
In a Facebook post sighted by ghanaeducation.org, WAEC revealed the procedures or steps it follows before examination questions are set.
According to WAEC, before it sets questions for the WASSCE or BECE, the GES teaching syllabus and the WAEC Examinations syllabus must be developed. After this, WAEC will need to train knowledgeable and professionals who will be setting the questions.
Below are the procedures
- Development of Teaching syllabus by the Ghana Education Service and Examinations syllabus by WAEC.
- Training of Item Writers
- Commissioning of ltem Writers/knowledgeable persons/experts/professionals in the subject areas are commissioned to set questions).
The WAEC syllabi serve as a complete guide to tackling WAEC questions. It also gives you a clue about everything that you need to know about the subjects you registered for. The WAEC Ghana syllabus is well-organized, specific and detailed. It’s just like a manual for candidates participating in the WAEC exams.
The syllabus contains the major subjects for candidates preparing for May/June and Nov/Dec WASSCE. Some of the subjects include General Mathematics, English Language, Literature – in – English, Integrated Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Agricultural Science, Economics, Geography, Social Studies, Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Studies, Financial Accounting, Commerce, Ghanaian Languages and many more.
WHEN IS THE 2023 WASSCE
The West African Examinations Council has revealed the exact date in which the first 2023 WASSCE paper will be written in Ghana.
Already, it is known that Ghana will once again write the 2023 WASSCE alone. Other West African countries will write their exams in few weeks time. In Ghana the exams will be conducted from Monday, 31st July to Tuesday, 26th September, 2023. Monday, 31st July, 2023 is when the first paper will be written in Ghana.
The final timetable for the examination will be made available to all schools and will be on the WAEC website as well. Candidates are advised to contact their schools or visit the WAEC website for the accurate timetable. Candidates should refrain from downloading timetables from unverifiable websites.
2023 BECE on the other hand will begin on 7th August, 2023.
