Artisan (Aluminum Fabricators)

As an Artisan, you will be responsible for the aluminum-glazed fabrication of doors, windows, screens, curtain-walling and associated components using hand tools, routing equipment, punch tools and radial bench saws.

You will be required to complete all jobs, as well as test all finished jobs ensuring they are completed with a focus on accuracy, speed and to specific build requirements.

This also includes cutting aluminum profiles to size and routing or punching out holes for locking mechanisms or other components, prior to full assembly.

Alongside all jobs, the Fabricator will need to ensure all the relevant paperwork is completed as well as ensure compliance with all DS’s procedures.

Candidate will make and glaze frames for items like:

• Windows
• Conservatories
• Doors
• Screens
• Curtain walling

Job Description:

Duties will involve:

• Fabrication of Aluminium Frames, i.e. Doors, Windows, Curtain Wall
• Read and interpret computer-aided drawings and plans
• To ensure the manufacturing schedule is achieved as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to meet targets and deadlines.
• Use of various machinery i.e. Punch Tools, Mitre Saw, Copy Router, Pillar Drill
• Provide Technical Support, to both the Aluminium Fabrication Team, and the overall business
• Assisting with incoming goods deliveries.
• To ensure all Internal Maintenance is performed daily and reporting all Maintenance issues to Line Manager
• To ensure that DS Housekeeping is adhered to and maintained
• Provide QC Inspections on Deliveries and ‘Work in Progress
• Complete paperwork, including job sheets and quality assurance documents
• Clean, inspect and package finished products

Candidate will work to production schedules and targets to meet customer demand.

There may be opportunities to go on site to do surveys, assist with fitting or do quality control jobs.

• You should possess a high degree of product knowledge in a variety of Aluminium Systems.
• Have a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in an Aluminium Fabrication based role (10+ years is an advantage)
• Be able to prioritise and organise work efficiently and effectively.
• Be driven to achieve objectives, regardless of problems.
• Be energetic and enthusiastic, proactively offering proposals.
• Achieve team objectives.
• Transmit information in a clear, concise and confident manner.
• Be consistent, accurate and ensure that procedures are followed.

We are looking for a candidate who has had previous experience working in a similar role, as well as great accuracy skills and a good attention to detail is key to ensure the build is right first time.

Working as part of a small team, the right candidate would be a good team player to ensure all fabricators feel supported and work together to complete works to ensure we continually meet our KPI’s and keep our customers happy.

An ability to read technical drawings would be an advantage.
