The Ghana Education Service, in partnership with the World Food Programme, has launched a two-day nutrition campaign at Ejisu Senior High Technical School as part of the School Health Education Programme (SHEP) initiative.
This special campaign, themed “Back to School Nutrition Campaign,” aims to promote the utilization of local food ingredients and the preparation of traditional dishes among students, in order to instill healthier eating habits.
Pictures of the event
A group of Home Economics students from Ejisu Senior High Technical School were assigned the challenge of creating dishes using local ingredients, with parboiled rice as a key component.
They were required to incorporate this ingredient into their main dishes, snacks, desserts, and accompaniments. The end result exceeded expectations, leaving the dignitaries from the Ghana Education Service, World Food Program Organizers, and other representatives from various sectors pleasantly surprised.
DISHESSome of the food items
Students from Ejisu Secondary Technical School have recently unveiled a range of innovative local dishes that showcase the rich culinary heritage of their community. These talented young chefs have combined traditional ingredients and cooking techniques with a modern twist, resulting in a delightful fusion of flavors and textures.
One of the standout dishes is the “Akple and Okro Soup with a Twist.” Akple, a popular local dish made from fermented corn dough, is traditionally served with okro soup. However, the students have added their own creative touch by incorporating exotic spices and herbs, elevating the dish to a whole new level. The result is a harmonious blend of tangy, spicy, and savory flavors that leave a lasting impression on the taste buds.
Another innovative creation is the “Plantain and Peanut Butter Stew.” Plantains, a staple in Ghanaian cuisine, are usually prepared in a savory manner. However, the students have ingeniously combined the sweetness of ripe plantains with the rich and creamy texture of peanut butter to create a unique and indulgent stew. The dish is a perfect balance of sweet and savory, with the plantains adding a natural sweetness that complements the nutty flavors of the peanut butter.
The students have also experimented with traditional snacks, such as the “Cassava Chips with Chili Lime Dip.” Cassava, a root vegetable widely consumed in Ghana, is thinly sliced and fried to create crispy chips. The students have taken this classic snack to the next level by adding a zesty chili lime dip, which adds a refreshing and tangy kick to the crunchy chips. This innovative twist on a beloved snack is sure to be a hit among locals and visitors alike.
In addition to their culinary creations, the students have also focused on presentation, ensuring that their dishes are not only delicious but also visually appealing. They have incorporated vibrant colors, artistic plating techniques, and garnishes that showcase the beauty of their local ingredients.
The unveiling of these innovative local dishes by the students from Ejisu Secondary Technical School is a testament to their creativity, passion, and dedication to preserving and promoting their culinary heritage. Their culinary creations not only celebrate the flavors of their community but also inspire others to explore and appreciate the diverse and rich food culture of Ghana.
During an exclusive interview with the National SHEP Director, Theresa Oppong-Mensah stressed the importance of reverting to traditional methods of food preparation. She highlighted that relying on certain species and modernized cooking techniques can have detrimental effects on our health. Therefore, it is crucial that we make an effort to embrace our old cooking practices, utilizing local ingredients, in order to prevent diseases such as Diabetes, Heart diseases, and various others.
The National Labour Commission has instructed teachers who are dissatisfied to end their strike and have a meeting with the government to discuss their concerns within a day. So, teachers are to resume classes from tomorrow.
The Commission has also ordered the government, under the leadership of Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, to distribute laptops to the teachers within two months.
This directive was given by the National Labour Commission following a meeting with representatives from the striking teachers and the government.
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, who represented the government, stated, “We have reached an agreement with the NLC, and they have decided that the Ministries of Education and Employment should convene with the labor unions tomorrow at 2:00 pm to address their grievances.”
King Ali Awudu, President of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT), who spoke on behalf of the teacher unions, mentioned, “It has been decided that all laptops will be distributed by the end of June, and by the 8th of June, the scheme of service with the GES will be tackled. The Ghana Education Service should take necessary actions with the Office of the Special Prosecutor to ensure that teachers’ salaries are paid.”
The National Labour Commission (NLC) has dragged the Ghana Education Service (GES) and Ministry of Education (MoE) to court earlier before the beginning of the stick.
The Commission has taken this step, in reaction to the decision by the GES and the MoE to defy its orders to ensure payment of online allowances to staff of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, Somanya in the Eastern Region, who are members of University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).
Early this year, aggrieved lecturers at the University of Environment and Sustainable Development withdrew their services. The lecturers are demanding payment of capitation online teaching allowance which has been in arears over a year.
The NLC summoned the lecturers who are members of UTAG, as well as officials of the ministries of Education and Finance.
After deliberation, the Commission queried the representatives of Finance and Education ministries for defying its 2023 ruling to pay the allowance to the disgruntled lecturers.
The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mr Ofosu Asamoah said the suit is to ensure that government settles the arrears to the lecturers.
“The respondents were here, and we asked have you complied with the directive? They said no, so we have taken them to court, the law states that we should go to court to seek enforcement that is what the Commission has done,” Mr Asamoah explained.
He added, “they have to go court to explain to the court why they have not complied with the directive and if their explanation is tenable the court will decide”.
Meanwhile, the aggrieved lecturers have resumed work.
Regarding the following announcement, teachers are to resume classes and from tomorrow and give the government and the NLC chances of negotiation
Bitcoin has been experiencing a remarkable surge, surpassing $73,000 on the 14th and continuously reaching new highs. With a bullish market sentiment and the halving date approaching in less than 30 days, it is highly likely that Bitcoin will surpass the six-digit mark in this cycle.
However, despite its rapid growth, Bitcoin remains a highly volatile asset. Investing directly in Bitcoin requires a significant level of financial strength and risk tolerance. But what about ordinary investors who may not possess such financial resources or be willing to take on substantial risks? Can they still profit from Bitcoin surge? The answer is a resounding yes.
One option is to consider cloud mining contracts offered by Simpleminers, the leading Bitcoin miner globally. These contracts allow individuals to earn profits from Bitcoin surge, soaring value at a minimal cost and with low risk. In fact, many of my investor acquaintances have been making $1,000 per day through Simpleminers’ cloud mining contracts. But how does it work?
To understand how to leverage Bitcoin surge volatility and risk for low-cost and low-risk investment, it is crucial to comprehend the concept of cloud mining.
Cloud mining is an innovative investment product utilized by Bitcoin miners to alleviate financial pressure while expanding their computing power deployment. In this arrangement, investors participate in Bitcoin mining by renting the computing power of miners.
The miners, in turn, are responsible for mining Bitcoins and sharing the profits with the investors. It is a collaborative approach to earning money in the cryptocurrency market.
In this way, investors do not need to rent space, purchase mining machines, operate and maintain, pay energy costs, etc., nor do they need to worry about losing all their investments because they cannot mine Bitcoin.
Because miners will ensure that investors receive returns in the form of interest. As far as miners are concerned, they have gathered the funds of many investors and deployed and occupied a higher proportion of hash rate, thereby gaining the advantage of Bitcoin mining efficiency.
In the environment of Bitcoin halving, prioritizing computing power is a guarantee for obtaining rewards and a guarantee for miners to make money. So, this is a win-win investment for both investors and miners.
Learned about cloud mining. Next, we can explore how investors can earn $1,000 a day through the Simpleminers cloud mining contract.
Before publishing this article, the author found through practice that the income from investing in Simpleminers’ computing power contract mainly comes from the following four aspects:
①Registration bonus: Download and register a Simpleminers account. (Complete this step to earn a $10 sign-up bonus).
②Daily income: Purchase a computing power contract and obtain the daily income of the contract. (The current maximum daily rate of return is 3%).
③Extra bonus: If the value of Bitcoin increases, you can also get additional rewards during the contract period. (This is an added bonus).
④ Invitation income: By inviting friends to invest in Simpleminers, you can get a reward of 3% of the friend’s investment. If your friend invites his friends to invest in Simpleminers, you can also get a reward of 1% of their investment. (Introduce money-making projects to friends, earn favors and make money at the same time, why not do it?)
Now, assuming you have $50,000, let me teach you how to make $1,000 a day by investing in Simpleminers’ hash rate contract. Here’s what you can do: Purchase 5 Simpleminers hashrate contracts worth $10,000 each for 50 days.
In this way, you can get direct income of US$165.04/day*5 servings=US$825.2/day.
At this time, you only need to invite some friends to make money together and let their investment amount reach 300,000 US dollars, and you can get an invitation reward of 300,000 US dollars * 3% = 9,000 US dollars (9,000 US dollars / 50 days = 180 US dollars / day) .
After these two steps, you will realize that within the 50 days of your investment contract, the money you earn every day = $825.2 + $180 = $1005.2. Of course, if your friends also invite friends to invest, your income will be more than this amount.
In other words, you invest $50,000 in Simpleminers’ computing power contract and recommend your money-making project to your friends.
After 50 days, your assets will become at least US$50,000 (principal) + US$50,260 (profit) = US$100,260. If, as experts predict, the price of Bitcoin breaks through 6 figures, you will also receive a considerable amount of additional bonuses from Simpleminers.
What a great investment trip it will be!
If you think the amount of US$50,000 is still too large, Simpleminers also has many friendly computing power contracts to choose from.
For example, a computing power contract worth US$100 with a 2-day cycle allows you to invest US$100 and earn US$6 in 2 days. Of course, if you want to know more about Simpleminers’ computing power contracts, the author recommends that you register for a Simpleminers account.
Their official website has a very detailed introduction, and there are 24-hour online customer service staff to answer all your questions.
Registering a Simpleminers account is even easier: you only need to click “Register” on the official website of Simpleminers and fill in your email address, login account, login password, etc. in the form to complete the registration. (You can also get 10 US dollars in trial funds by creating an account, which is very considerate.)
Simpleminers settles and pays contract income every day. You can download their mobile APP and perform contract purchase and redemption operations on your mobile phone. Your funds are not only safe but also visible.
If you are also interested in making money by investing in Simpleminers’ computing power contracts and want to know more about Simpleminers, you can log in to their official website now: simpleminers.com

JHS 3 students are concerned about the ongoing teachers’ strike during the 2024 BECE. Prospective final-year Junior High School (JHS) students getting ready for the upcoming 2024 edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) are worried about the ongoing strike by teachers.
Scheduled from July 8 to July 12, 2024, the BECE candidates are concerned that the strike action by teachers could impact their preparation for the national examination, potentially leading to failure.
In an interview with JoyNews, a third-year student at St. Paul RC Basic School in Caprice, Accra, named Samuel, expressed his concerns about the lack of teacher guidance affecting his readiness for the 32nd edition of the BECE for School Candidates.
With only three months left until the BECE, Samuel emphasized the importance of teachers in helping students prepare adequately for the examination. He stressed the need for teachers to assist them in passing the BECE.
Another female student from the same school echoed Samuel’s sentiments, mentioning that schools are closing earlier than usual due to the strike, and students are advised to study independently.
The Junior High School students are calling on the Ministry of Education, under the government’s leadership, to address the teachers’ concerns promptly. They emphasize the importance of resolving the issues to ensure that teaching and learning can resume, preventing widespread exam failures.
Concerns are arising among potential final-year Junior High School (JHS) students as they prepare for the forthcoming 2024 edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) due to the ongoing strike initiated by teachers.
This appeal from the BECE students follows the nationwide strike action declared by three teacher unions on March 20, 2024. The unions, including the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the Ghana National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana (CCT-GH), are protesting the government’s failure to improve their working conditions.

The Rise of Technology in Education
The rapid advancement of technology has played a significant role in driving the growth of online education. With the widespread availability of high-speed internet and the increasing use of smartphones, laptops, and tablets, accessing educational content has become more convenient than ever before. According to experts from SVHS, students no longer have to physically attend classes to engage with course materials, participate in discussions, or collaborate with their peers. The development of innovative learning management systems (LMS) and online platforms has further simplified the delivery of educational content.
These platforms offer a wide range of features, including video lectures, interactive quizzes, discussion forums, and virtual classrooms, which greatly enhance the overall learning experience for students. Moreover, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies are now being integrated into online education platforms to personalize learning pathways and provide targeted feedback to students.
Accessibility and Flexibility
Another driving force behind the global shift towards online education is the increased accessibility and flexibility it offers. Traditional education models often present barriers such as geographical limitations, scheduling conflicts, and financial constraints. Online education breaks down these barriers by allowing students to access courses from anywhere in the world, at any time that suits their schedule.
For individuals with busy lifestyles or responsibilities such as work or family, online education provides the flexibility to pursue learning without disrupting their existing commitments. This flexibility has made education more inclusive and accessible to a wider range of learners, including working professionals, parents, and individuals with disabilities.
Cost-Effectiveness
Cost-effectiveness is a pivotal factor propelling the global transition toward online education. Compared to traditional brick-and-mortar institutions burdened with high tuition fees, accommodation expenses, and commuting costs, online courses emerge as a more economical alternative. The landscape of online education is diverse, with platforms offering flexible payment structures like pay-as-you-go models, subscription plans, and even free courses, catering to a wide range of learners.
The absence of physical infrastructure and associated overhead costs allows online education providers to deliver quality learning experiences at reduced prices. This cost-saving benefit is transferred to students, fostering greater accessibility and inclusivity in education. Additionally, online learners can save significantly on ancillary expenditures such as transportation, accommodation, and dining, further enhancing the cost-effectiveness of online education.
The financial accessibility offered by online learning platforms serves as a significant catalyst for their widespread adoption globally. As more individuals seek affordable and convenient educational opportunities, the appeal of online education continues to grow, reshaping the way people access and engage with learning resources in the digital age.
Globalization and Diversity
The globalization of education is also driving the shift towards online learning. As businesses and industries become increasingly globalized, there is a growing demand for a diverse and skilled workforce. Online education allows students from different countries and cultural backgrounds to collaborate and learn together, fostering a rich and diverse learning environment.
Furthermore, online courses often incorporate content and perspectives from experts and educators around the world, providing students with a global outlook and cross-cultural understanding. This exposure to diverse ideas and experiences enhances critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, preparing students for success in a globalized economy.
Technological Challenges and Solutions
While online education offers numerous benefits, it also comes with its share of challenges, particularly concerning technology. Connectivity issues, hardware compatibility, and digital literacy are some of the common challenges faced by online learners, especially those in underserved or remote areas. However, advancements in technology, such as the rollout of 5G networks, the development of low-cost devices, and digital literacy initiatives, are helping to mitigate these challenges.
Educational institutions and online platforms are also investing in user-friendly interfaces, responsive design, and technical support services to ensure a seamless learning experience for all students. Moreover, the integration of adaptive learning technologies and data analytics enables educators to track student progress, identify areas for improvement, and provide personalized support and interventions.
The Future of Online Education
As we look ahead to the future, it is clear that education is moving towards a digital and interconnected landscape. The global shift towards online education is not just a passing fad, but a transformation driven by ongoing technological advancements, changing learning preferences, and the growing demand for lifelong learning opportunities. It is important to recognize that online education is not a one-size-fits-all solution, but rather a complementary aspect to traditional learning models.
Blended learning approaches, which combine online and offline elements, are becoming increasingly popular due to their ability to leverage the benefits of both worlds. This hybrid method provides flexibility, personalized learning experiences, and access to a wide range of learners. Continuous research and assessment are essential to maintain the quality, effectiveness, and inclusivity of online education programs.
By utilizing technology, embracing innovative teaching methods, and focusing on accessibility and diversity, we can create a more equitable and dynamic learning environment. This involves using tools like artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and adaptive learning systems to cater to individual learning styles and enhance engagement. Additionally, promoting collaboration among educators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders is crucial to ensure that online education progresses in line with societal needs and technological advancements.
In summary, the future of online education offers great potential for delivering personalized, interactive, and accessible learning experiences. By fostering a culture of lifelong learning and embracing the transformative power of digital education, we can empower learners of all backgrounds and ages to succeed in a rapidly changing knowledge-based economy.
Ultimately, the worldwide transition to online education is propelled by a blend of technological progress, ease of access, cost efficiency, globalization, and inclusivity. Despite the obstacles posed by technological barriers, online education is actively tackling these challenges through innovative solutions and collaborative efforts. As a result, the future of education is envisioned to be digital, adaptable, and all-encompassing, ushering in a plethora of new prospects for learners across the globe.

Madam Kabahena Flavia Rwabuhoro, a Member of the Ugandan Parliament, praised Ghana’s educational achievements, highlighting its role as a model for other African countries.
The delegation has been actively engaging with management and staff from various agencies under the Ministry to learn about their programs and policies. This exchange of knowledge will enable them to adopt relevant aspects of Ghana’s education policies in Uganda.

The Director of Elections and IT for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Edward Omane Boamah, has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct a comprehensive, impartial, and independent investigation into the missing Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits to ensure a free and fair election.
The NDC minority in Parliament previously claimed that seven Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) belonging to the EC were missing. However, the Commission refuted this allegation during a press conference on Wednesday, March 20.
Dr. Bossman Asare, the Deputy Commissioner at the EC, stated, “These claims are unfounded. No BVDs were stolen. To clarify, the Commission recently carried out routine maintenance on its Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits.
“It was during this maintenance that we discovered the theft of five (5) laptops from the Biometric Voter Registration kits, not seven BVDs as inaccurately reported,” he clarified.
Nonetheless, Dr. Omane Boamah, in a Facebook post on Friday, March 22, shared a memo dated March 7, 2024, from the EC to certain regional directors requesting the return of some Biometric Verification Devices to the EC headquarters.
“Hopefully, the Electoral Commission of Ghana can recover these unrecovered Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) promptly. This situation is quite concerning! Noah Lyles asserts that he possesses a significant reservoir of untapped potential in his relentless pursuit to claim the title of the swiftest individual in the annals of history.
Noah Lyles possesses an abundance of self-assurance. After securing three world championship titles last year, the American sprinter has set his sights on surpassing Usain Bolt’s records in the 100 and 200 meters. Lyles confidently states, “He was the fastest man ever to do it, and soon, it’ll be me,” accompanied by a mischievous grin. While some may view this as overconfidence, others see it as the swagger of a top athlete entering his prime in an Olympic year.
Lyles has established himself as a prominent figure in the track and field world, known for his amiable personality and willingness to express his chances at major races. As the Paris Games approach, the 26-year-old has expanded his horizons.
Although he has historically specialized in the 200m, Lyles claimed his first world championship title in the 100m last year in Budapest and secured an indoor silver medal in the 60m earlier this month in Glasgow. While the latter event is not part of the Olympic program, Lyles could potentially compete in four different disciplines in Paris by also participating in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
This breadth of ambition for a sprinter is unprecedented. Lyles shares, “We worked on the 60 to help my 100 and my 200, and we’ve witnessed significant progress in that regard. I am incredibly excited to see how it translates to outdoor competitions. This continuous improvement only fuels my confidence, and I intend to have fun with it when we take our training outdoors.”
Lyles solidified his status as the fastest man in the world during the previous year’s world championships, clinching the 100m victory with a personal best time of 9.83 seconds and securing his third consecutive title in the 200m event.
Approaching Bolt’s world records of 9.58 and 19.19 – Lyles currently ranks third on the all-time list for the 200m with a time of 19.31 – will necessitate patience and continuous improvement. Despite this, many believe that Bolt’s reputation as the greatest sprinter of all time remains unchallenged by the current crop of sprinting talents.
Lyles, on the other hand, believes he has a distinct approach compared to Bolt, the eight-time Olympic gold medalist who retired in 2017.
“He always delivered when it mattered most,” Lyles states. “I, on the other hand, prefer to showcase my dominance throughout the entire year.”
In the recent indoor season, Lyles set a new personal best of 6.43 seconds in the 60m event, finishing just behind compatriot Christian Coleman in the world championship final.
Following that, he secured a silver medal in the 4x400m relay – only his second official appearance in the event. Currently, he is intensifying his training regimen for the upcoming outdoor season, particularly focusing on the Olympics.
“To be frank, I view the past three years as stepping stones,” Lyles explains. “Looking back at 2023, it served as a blueprint for 2024. We executed that plan so effectively that we are now operating on autopilot.”
The main reason for his success last year, Lyles adds, was upping his intensity in the weight room.
“I’ve been lifting a lot more,” he says. “Not to say that I wasn’t lifting already, it’s just that the attitude towards the weight room has increased – more aggression, more weight, a lot more emphasis on that.
“I’ve done so great everywhere else that this was the last place that we really had to increase it.”
Lyles’ progress hasn’t always been as smooth as his speed out of the starting blocks. Indeed, he was a strong favorite to win 200m gold ahead of the Tokyo Olympics three years ago, but despite running a strong bend, he faded towards the end of the race and finished third.
It took a string of world championship titles for Lyles to re-establish himself as the world’s dominant sprinter, though he is eager to prove himself on the biggest stage in Paris later this year.
“After Tokyo, I just had that fire, and it’s increased my drive that much more,” he says. “Every time I get on the track, every world championship, every race I get into, everybody can see that that wasn’t my goal and that I have way more to give.
“I’m now going into Paris saying, ‘Hey, not only am I here to prove that race was a fluke, but I’ve got more races, I’ve got more events. And I’m coming after more than just one event.’”
Noah Lyles Believes he Can be the Fastest Ever
As one of his sport’s headline stars, Lyles has a long-time, recently-extended contract with Adidas, among other brands, and often speaks of his interests – fashion and music – beyond the track.
He caused a stir among some well-known basketball names last year when he questioned why NBA championship-winning players referred to themselves as world champions, quipping: “World champion of what? The United States?”
That prompted Kevin Durant to suggest somebody “help this brother,” while Aaron Gordon joked, “I’m smoking buddy in the 200m.”
Lyles, though, saw the reaction as a positive reflection on what he had just achieved: a first-ever world championship title in the 100m. “When I got the title of world’s fastest man, now all of a sudden people perk up their ears like, ‘The world’s fastest man said that? I can’t believe you would say something like that,’” says Lyles.
“I already had three world championship gold medals under my belt, but as soon as you get the title of the world’s fastest man, now people are like, ‘Oh shoot. He’s somebody.’”
