The official date for school resuming for basic schools in Ghana have been released. Christmas is one of the festive seasons which is considered in the planning of the school curriculum. In most cases, students need to go on vacations and have time to celebrate this festive season. The story will always be different when students are not allowed to go to their various homes to celebrate Christmas.

The third term for the basic schools in Ghana has officially come to a successful end. Many of the basic schools across the country will end their academic term on 15th December 2022. Unless in some rare cases the private schools might decide to stay a bit longer in schools based on the decision of their management.

Staying a little bit longer in schools besides the original vacation does not apply to all public schools. All public schools take directives from the leadership (Ghana Education Service). They put in their maximum effort to make sure that, they comply with the directives from headquarters.

Many people are in dilemma about the actual date that schools will resume after the. Christmas festivity. Before they got the authentic information from a credible source, the date which was circulating as the official date for resuming date for Basic school students will be on the 8th of January 2022. Other people thought it will be on the 9th of January 2022.

New Date Basic Schools Will Reopen After Christmas Vacation

The official update reaching us indicates that all the perceived dates above are not in connection with legal dates from Ghana Education Service. The communique which was released earlier today shows that the basic school students will vacate on Friday 16th December 2022 and resume on Tuesday, 10th December 2022.

This is the current and official date from Ghana Education Service to the General public through the various Regional and District directors of education across the country.

Postponement of Vacation date for public basic schools

In a related development, the Management of Ghana Education Service  (GES) has informed all teaches and non teaching staff of Public basic schools that  the Vacation date for public basic schools for the third (3) has been shifted to Friday 16th December 2022.

This is to enable primary four (P4) pupils to write the National standardized test on Friday, 16th December 2022.

The reopening date for the first term of the next academic year is 10th January 2022.

It further directed all Regional directors are kindly requested to communicate this information to the Metro / Municipals and District directors of education to inform all heads of the Basic schools to take note and act accordingly.
