Black Queens Qualify for WAFCON after five years
The National Senior Women’s team the Black Queens of Ghana has secured a spot at the 2024 women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament which will take place in Morocco despite losing to Namibia today at Pretoria.
The Black Queens secured a 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations qualification ticket after a 3:2 aggregate victory against Namibia in the qualifiers.
After five (5) years without participating in the most cherish Women’s tournament in the continent, the black Queens under the head coach Nora Hauptles has been able to qualify the team to the tournament with 10 matches unbeaten after her record was broken by Namibia today.

Through their qualifications journey, they defeated their fellow ladies like Guinea, Bennin, Senegal, Niger and Rwanda without conceding a goal.
The defeat against Namibia marks Nora Hauptles first defeat after going ten (10) matches unbeaten after taken over as the head coach of the Black Queens.
After the match today, the Black Queens head coach spotted sharing tears since her records has been broken by Namibia by a lone goal.
Namibia dominated and manage to beat Ghana but will not get the opportunity to participate in the tournament since they were not able to secure the maximum points needed to qualify for the competition.
Black Queens players who did a magnificent job in qualifying the team to the next year Women’s African Cup of Nations include Elizabeth Addo, Grace Asantewaa, Portia Boakye, Linda Eshun, Priscilla Okyere, Boaduwaa Grace among others.
Ghana has become the fourth country to qualify for the Women’s African Cup of Nations by joining the host nation Morocco the nation, South Africa and Algeria.
The Black Queens of Ghana first qualified for WAFCON in the year 1991 and was eliminated by their rivals Nigeria, in the Quarter final match.
Black Queens is among the dominated Women’s National Teams in Africa.
