BREAKING: Iphone Thief Jailed For 6 Months – Details
Mason Michael Saaba, 28, was sentenced to six months in prison for stealing an iPhone 13 Pro Max worth GHS10,000 and taking money from its wallet.
Saaba entered a guilty plea to the charge of stealing in Kaneshie District Court.
Naana Kweti Adilla, a relative, had given the accused his iPhone so that he could withdraw GHS1,000 from his Momo wallet at a nearby vendor.
Saaba stole the phone and used it to withdraw GHS 1,800 from the Momo wallet.
Ms. Ama Adomako Kwakye presided over the court, which found Saaba guilty on his own plea and sentenced him accordingly.
According to Chief Inspector Florence Nartey, the complainant was a trader, and Saaba was her nephew.
They all live in the same house in Orisco, Accra, near Dansoman.
According to the prosecution, on September 27, this year, the complainant gave Saaba her iPhone 13 Pro Max in order for her to withdraw GHS1,000 from her mobile money account at a nearby vendor.
According to the report, Saaba “vanished into thin air” after taking the phone from the complainant.
The complainant discovered on September 28th, this year, that the remaining GHS800 in her Momo wallet had also been withdrawn.
According to the prosecution, a report was made to the police, and on October 26, this year, Saaba’s cousin, Amina, spotted him at Ashaiman and arrested him.
Saaba admitted the crime in his investigation caution statement.
According to the prosecution, Saaba stated that his friends assisted him in withdrawing all the money from the complainant’s mobile money account.
