BREAKING NEWS: Adenta Community Basic School destroyed by fire

A devastating fire incident has significantly impacted the Adenta Community Basic School located in the Adentan Municipality of Accra,  it has destroyed the staff common room.

The blaze, which erupted in the late hours of Wednesday, March 20, 2024, has left the school community in shock and uncertainty as the cause of the fire remains undetermined.

The fire service, promptly responding to the emergency, managed to extinguish the flames but not before valuable school property, including furniture, books, and crucial school records, were lost to the fire.

The extent of the damage highlights the potential challenges the school may face in the aftermath, particularly concerning administrative operations and the preservation of important academic records.

In an interview with Citi News, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Adenta, Ebenezer Doku, expressed his concern over the incident. He revealed that investigations are currently underway to uncover what might have sparked the blaze.

The MCE recounted the events leading to the discovery of the fire, noting the peculiar circumstances discovered at the scene, such as the headteacher’s office being broken into and a fridge being moved.

These details hint at the possibility of the fire being an act of vandalism, adding a layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation.

Despite the setback caused by the fire, school authorities have assured the public and the student body that academic activities will not be adversely affected.
