Chris Hughton Named New Head Coach of Ghana’s Black Stars
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has named Chris Hughton as the new head coach of the Black Stars, following thorough discussions between the two parties. This appointment comes after Otto Addo stepped down as the team’s head coach following Ghana’s exit from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Addo had served as head coach with support from George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, who were appointed in March, while Hughton acted as the team’s technical advisor. But after a month of the head coaching position being open, the GFA has now announced Hughton as the next head coach for the Black Stars.
A statement on the GFA’s website reads, “We’re proud to appoint Chris Hughton as the head coach of the Black Stars following productive negotiations between the two parties. This appointment aligns with the GFA’s vision of constructing a strong squad, building upon the foundation laid by Otto Addo in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament.”
Boateng and Didi Dramani will continue as the team’s assistant coaches, just as they did under Otto Addo.
