CSSPS Provides a Comprehensive Outline of Measures to Address Placement Issues Related to SHS/SHTS/TVET.
The Free SHS Secretariat has been working with the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) Secretariat to address computer school placement issues that students will report after the second cycle of school placements are out.
He said, among other things, that call centres will be established to take complaints from students and parents who encounter difficulties with the placement at the Senior High/Technical School.

The Free SHS staff also indicated some personnel who have been trained in good customer service skills will attend to people who would be inquiring, seeking clarification and other information on the 2023 computer school placement.
“Apart from the call centres, we are going to make good use of the traditional media such as television stations, radio and newspapers to communicate crucial information that might be beneficial to all parents during the placement,” he noted.
As part of the measures, he said a national and regional solution centre across the country will be established to provide real-time support to students and the public on the soon-to-be-released school placement of BECE graduates.
According to him, reported placement challenges by stakeholders, parents and students will be solved instantly by a technical team from the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) and Free SHS Secretariat.
The Free Senior High School (Free SHS) official said at the Regional level, a four-member team will be at each of the centres in the 16 Regions to Collate and send to the National technical team issues compiled for redress.
Expected to be released soon, an official of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System Secretariat says the Ghana Education Service has targeted to place about 90 per cent of BECE students in various schools school.
The staff of the CSSPS however said prospective Junior High School (JHS) students who sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination and had grade 9 in subjects like English Language or Mathematics will be denied placement.

A total of 600,714 candidates, comprising 300,323 boys and 300,391 girls from 18,993 Junior High Schools participated in the 2023 BECE for School Candidates which began on Monday, August 7, 2023, to Friday, August 11, 2023.
About the 2023 BECE for Private Candidates, a total entry figure of 1,743 candidates was recorded. This is made up of 889 males and 854 females. This year’s figure is 5.4% higher than the entry figure of 1,132 for 2022.
The 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School Candidates was held at 2,137 examination centres across the country, while 15 centres mainly in the regional capitals were used for the BECE for Private candidates.
