Pre-Tertiary schools to take part in 2022 Republic Day Parade for Cadets
The Ghana Education Service in a letter dated 10th April 2022 has informed all public schools to allow their students to take part in the 2022 Republic Day Parade for school cadets at the request of the National Cadet Corps.
The 2022 Republic Day Parade for Cadets is under the theme “Working Together As Youth, Bouncing Back Together”. The Chief of Staff, of the office of the President of Ghana, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare is expected to be the Guest of Honour and the receiving officer of the 2022 Republic Day Parade.
Other activities planned to celebrate the 2022 Republic Day celebration of Ghana by the National Cadet Corps include a National Music Competition for selected school cadets with Band on29th June 2022 at the Ghana National Fire Service School in Accra.
On the same day, a National Drills Competition will be held at the Ghana Police Depot for selected cadets
While the event aims at helping cadets across the country to commemorate Ghana’s Republic Day, it also offers an opportunity for cadets to develop the spirit of volunteerism, patriotism, and good citizenship. Schools are to permit their cadets to participate in the events of the National Cadet Corps and ensure that two teachers (a male and a female) accompany the cadet representatives of the school to the event.

The Cadet Corps of Ghana was first established in 1954 at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS), Takoradi in the Western Region (with just a handful of student cadet).

Currently, the Corps has a membership school strength of about 223 and numerical strength of about 65,380 in all 16 regions of Ghana. Cadets are found in basic and junior high schools, Senior High Schools, and tertiary institutions across the country. While instilling discipline among students, it also offers students an opportunity to serve humanity through volunteerism and selfless service to others.
