Ensure Timely Distribution of Tablets to SHSs – Kyei-Menah-Bonsu to Government
The member of Parliament for Suame Constituency, Osei Kyei-Menah-Bonsu, has passionately said that government should ensure the timely distribution of tablets to Senior High schools (SHS) in Ghana.
Parliament had previously approved a substantial budget exceeding GH¢1.4 billion for the procurement of these essential devices, specifically aimed at benefiting students in different SHSs. This move was hailed as a significant step towards modernizing the educational system and providing students with access to digital learning resources.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia had earlier announced the government’s commitment to providing complimentary electronic tablets to all SHS students across the country. These tablets were envisioned to serve as alternative textbooks, offering students a more interactive and dynamic learning experience.
During a session in Parliament on Tuesday, March 19, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu emphasized the critical importance of promptly initiating the purchase and distribution process of these tablets, especially in light of the approved funds by Parliament. He urged the Ministry of Finance to ensure the timely release of the allocated amount so that the tablets could be swiftly supplied to secondary schools nationwide.

Expressing concern over the delay in distribution, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu highlighted the government’s assurance that the tablets were ready for deployment. However, with the academic year progressing, the timely provision of these devices becomes increasingly crucial to ensure students can fully utilize them for their educational advancement.
It is imperative for the Ministry of Finance to act swiftly in releasing the allocated funds to facilitate the procurement and distribution process of the tablets. This proactive approach will not only fulfill the government’s commitment to enhancing educational resources but also ensure that students have access to the necessary tools for their academic success.
As stakeholders continue to advocate for the timely distribution of tablets to SHSs, the collective effort remains focused on empowering students with the digital resources needed to thrive in today’s ever-evolving educational landscape.
