Parts of Adenta Community Basic School destroyed by fire
A devastating fire has engulfed the staff common room of Adenta Community Basic School, situated in the heart of the Adentan Municipality in Accra. The inferno erupted during the late hours of Wednesday, March 20, 2024, leaving behind a trail of destruction and uncertainty.
Although the precise cause of the fire remains shrouded in mystery, initial assessments by fire officials indicate extensive damage to furniture, books, and crucial school records. Ebenezer Doku, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Adenta, confirmed that investigations are underway to unravel the circumstances leading to the blaze.
MCE Ebenezer Doku recounted the frantic moments following the alarm. He revealed, “Somewhere around 7:50 pm, I was still in the office when I had a call that the Adenta Community Basic School was on fire, so I rushed there and when I got there, the Fire Service had already quenched the fire.”
Doku described scenes of disarray, with the headteacher’s office broken into and the discovery of a displaced fridge. Suspicion lingers over whether the individual who moved the fridge might have ignited the fire.
