The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has cautioned salaried workers against 3rd party loans processing activities. In a text message sent to all mobile phone users, EOCO called on workers to desist from engaging the services of third parties in their effort to access loans and other credit facilities.
EOCO cautions salaried workers at this critical time to help prevent others from becoming victims. The caution comes at a time when loan scammers have built sophisticated systems and processes to dupe unsuspecting workers seeking to obtain credit facilities for projects. The call for all to be careful to avoid the risk of being scammed or duped in a timely one. The outfit added that individuals who deal with such persons do so at their own risk.

Workers who engage such loan scammers are often misled leading to serious debt. The loan scammers operate in the following way. are
They tell their victims the amount of money to procure after checking their affordability and that the loan facility is supposed to help ease the process of retrieving the locked-up funds owned by the victim.
Now the worker goes through the process thinking it is genuine, receives the loan, pays the agreed percentage to the scammer, but ends up paying double the amount that was previously agreed on.
In some instances, the loan scammers persuade salaried workers and took their passport pictures and identity cards with the hope of securing the loan on their behalf.
EOCO furthered that “Work with a legitimate, licensed and qualified person or company. If you have any locked up funds with the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, write to them through your institution to request for your money,”
