Everything You Need To Know About Ghana Vs Mexico Friendly Match
Black Stars of Ghana will face Mexico National team in a friendly match on Sunday, 15th October, 2023. Ghana and Mexico have faced each other three times in recent times.
The first game was in 2006, where Ghana was defeated by a goal to zero.
The second match was in 2008. Ghana was defeated by 2 goals to 1.
The last meeting between the two teams was in 2017, and again the Mexicans emerged winners in Houston, courtesy a lone goal from Elías Hernández.
Sunday’s meeting will serve as preparatory games for both countries as Ghana begin their 2026 World Cup qualifiers next month while Mexico will be involved in COPA America qualifiers.
Ghana coach Chris Hughton wants to use the game to fix some of the challenges of the team, such us scoring early goals.
Ghana will once again face Mexico on Sunday, in 2023.

Hughton sees these two games as a prime opportunity for the Black Stars to evaluate their readiness for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers beginning in November, featuring Ghana’s matches against Comoros and Madagascar.
These friendly games also play a pivotal role in the team’s groundwork for the Africa Cup of Nations early next year, where they are set to face Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.

“It’s a good test for us. Of course, they are not games against African opponents and on African pitches, but that is the balance we have. We are here for two games where the oppositions will be favourites because they are playing at home, and it will be a big test for us,” he expressed to the Ghana FA media at the team’s base in Charlotte.
While the likes of Daniel Amartey, Alexander Djiku, and Tariq Lamptey have withdrawn from the squad, Ghana can rely on deputy captain Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, and Mohammed Kudus in the two games
The Black Stars of Ghana have been drawn in Group B for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations which will be hosted in Ivory Coast.
The West African giants have been grouped with African giants Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique
The Black Stars will be based in Abidjan where they will play most of their games at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium.

The top two countries will automatically advance to the Round of 16 stage with the third placed team advancing to the knockout stage based on ranking.
The tournament will start on the 13 January, 2024 and will end 11th February, 2024
