Expect PPEs by end of the week – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) says even though schools have reopened for students in KG to Senior High Schools but Personal protective equipment (PPEs) are not yet ready for distribution to various schools.
Ms Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Public Relations Officer of GES speaking on Joy News AM show monitored by Ghanaeducation.org said the coronavirus PPEs will arrive in the schools by the end of this week.
The spokeswoman said Personal protective equipment like a face mask, alcohol-based hand sanitizer, liquid soaps, Veronica Buckets, rolls of tissue paper, face shields will be provided to the schools by end of the week.
President Nana Akufo-Addo after 9 months of school closure on Sunday, January 17 in his 22nd televised nation’s address directed students to return back to school to commence the 2021/2022 academic year.
He said the government has taken the required steps to ensure safety in school adding that teachers have undergone the requisite orientation to enable them to assist with compliance of students with the protocols.

The Management of the Ghana Education Service following the school reopening directives has urged parents and guardians to provide at least one face mask to their ward in a bid to slow the spread of the virus.
