Real Reason Behind the Appointment of Yohunu as Deputy IGP

Richard Kumadoe, a security expert has hinted the reason behind President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s appointment of Commissioner of Police (COP) Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations.

Mr. Richard Kumadoe alleged that the appointment of the new Deputy Inspector General of Police is part of the conspiracy to remove IGP Dampare from office.
The appointment of COP Yohunu was announced by a press statement which was released by the Director of Communications at the Presidency Mr Eugene Arhin on Wednesday, July 17.
“This appointment is pursuant to the advice of the Police Council at its meeting held today, Wednesday, 17th July 2024, during which COP Yohuno’s exceptional credentials and dedication to duty were acknowledged,” the statement said.
In addition, it stated that COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno is a distinguished law enforcement officer, with a career over a stunning 30years, and has held various important positions within the Ghana Police Service.
“President Akufo-Addo extends his heartfelt congratulations to COP Christian Tetteh
Yohuno on his well-deserved appointment, and wishes him the very best in the discharge of his duties,” the statement said.
In the process of sharing his opinions on the recent development on the Hot Hot Edition on 3FM on Wednesday, July 17, Kumadoe said “This feeds into the conspiracy theory that they are preparing the grounds for the removal of the IGP.” This seems to give hints at the fact that COP Christian Tetteh was brought in to slowly take IGP Dampare out of office.
A former Police officer who is currently lawmaker for Wa West Peter Toobu said on the same show that the current IGP needs experienced hands to support him to manage the elections security this year, hence this appointment as per his point of view.

“Probably, the President is looking at the fact that we are in an election year, and he is seeking to empower people to support the IGP to deliver,” Mr toobu said.
