Fair Wages And Teacher Unions To Review Teachers Conditions Of Service

GNAT, NAGRAT and CCT have written to the fair wages and salaries commission to trigger the review of condition of the public sector teachers in the country.

In a letter from the teacher Unions to the fair wages and salaries commission, they Unions made it clear that the commission is ready to set the necessary machinery in motion so that there can be meetings to undertake the said review of the condition of teachers as soon as possible.

REVIEW OF THE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT FOR TEACHING STAFF WITHIN THE GHANA EDUCATION SERVICE (GES)

Pursuant to section 41.1 of the Collective Agreement for Teaching Staff within the Ghana Education Service (GES) document which came into effect August, 2020 and stipulates that:

There shall be general reviewing of this Collective Agreement after every three (3) years We the Teacher Unions-i.e.. the Ghana National Association of Teachers, GNAT, the National Association of Graduate Teachers, NAGRAT, and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers, Ghana, CCT-Gh, write to draw your attention that the said Collective Agreement document will run its scheduled three-year (3-year) span in August 2023, and therefore needs to be reviewed.

We would therefore be grateful if you would set the necessary machinery in motion so that we meet to undertake the said review, as soon as possible.
