2027 BECE Date released: See projected timetable
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the date for the 2027 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). In a press release dated 6th May, 2026, the GES revealed that the BECE will take place from Monday, 5th May, to Monday, 12th May, 2027.
The release date accompanied the new academic calendar for the 2026/2027 academic year. With WAEC changing the pairing of the BECE subjects for the 2026 candidates, the timetable for the next BECE is expected to be the same pairing of subjects as that of 2026.
The examination is expected to start with English language and religious and moral education on Monday, May 5th, 2027, and end with Arabic on May 12th.
The 2027 BECE will be administered to three categories of candidates. These are
- All public school candidates who are currently in grade 8.
- All private school candidates who are currently in grade 8.
- All private students receiving home tuition and not in any school.
- All students currently sitting the BECE in 2026 who may fail one or more subjects.
Following the 2026 pattern, subjects are typically paired (one morning and one afternoon) and administered over six examination days. Below is the likely examination calendar if WAEC does not change the pairing of the subjects.
