Foods That Can Damage Your Eyes If You Take Them Regularly
Although a healthy diet has been shown to improve eyesight, the opposite is also true: a poor diet can seriously impair one’s ability to see well. Despite this, there is debate over what exactly defines a healthy diet. The question, therefore, becomes, what foods should be avoided to safeguard eye health?
In addition to foods that are known to cause damage to the eyes, these broad categories also seem to include some foods that are known to cause damage to the skin.
When it comes to your health, your eyes are the first to suffer from a diet high in sugar. A recent study found that those who consumed the most sugary meals had a greater chance of acquiring age-related macular degeneration

Fried potatoes(Usually Anything Starchy)
Though it may taste great, a diet heavy in fried foods is detrimental to your health in the long run. Fried foods typically employ fatty oils that are bad for your eyes. Again, studies have connected particular diets to both increased cholesterol and age-related macular degeneration. Atherosclerosis, which can cause heart disease, stroke, and even blindness, is linked to high levels of bad cholesterol.
Sugary drinks
Sweetened beverages are another usual suspect when it comes to foods that are harmful to your eyes. Carbonated drinks, which are notoriously heavy in sugar, have been linked to an increased risk of age-related macular degeneration. Type 2 diabetes, which is linked to obesity, is associated with high consumption of carbonated and sugary drinks. As a result of diabetes, we run the risk of several complications, one of which is damage to our eyes.
Processed meat
Consumption of processed meats is known to cause serious health problems, especially in the eyes. I’m thinking specifically of salted cooked ham, bacon, and sausages that have been processed into lunch meats. Although it has been used for centuries to keep food fresh, the modern practice of adding large amounts of salt to food is thought to have negative effects on health.
