Former Leicester and Chelsea Star Drinkwater Retires from Football

Danny Drinkwater, a professional footballer who played for Leicester City and Chelsea during his career, has recently announced his retirement from the sport at the age of 33.
He was a significant player on the Leicester City team back in the 2015-2016 Premier League season, where he helped them win the championship title by appearing in 35 games out of 38 league games.
Unfortunately, Drinkwater didn’t have a similar success with Chelsea, where he played in 22 games and scored only one goal during his tenure.

Drinkwater’s switch to Stamford Bridge didn’t turn out to be as planned as he battled to get consistent playing time on the field.
He pursued loans at Aston Villa, Kasimpasa, Burnley, and Reading, among other clubs but failed to secure a long-term deal. Following his release from Chelsea in July, Drinkwater acknowledged that he had been in limbo for a long time and chose to resign.
During the High-Performance podcast, Drinkwater revealed his thoughts on leaving the sport, saying, “I’ve been ready for it, not stopping at my peak, and it’s simmered down a bit, that’s helped the transition… I’m not playing football, but I’m happy playing football. It’s been my life since I was six or seven, and it was never going to be an easy thing.”
Drinkwater realized that the passion for the game was no longer there, even though he’s had offers from other clubs, and he didn’t feel the burn.
Although Drinkwater had a less than ideal stint with Chelsea, he will always be remembered as an important player in Leicester City’s historical title win.
We wish Drinkwater all the best in his future activities as he bids farewell to his football career.
