News coming in has it that, at least 13 people have died, and almost 50 people have been injured after two trains collided in Andhra Pradesh in the Southern part of India on Sunday. The Andhra Pradesh train crash is a devastating one.
Right after the devastating incident, rescue team and operation were launched. These rescue team were launched to get rid of the wreckage and find survivors after this unfortunate incident.
Officials have released a communiqué that an investigation has been launched prior to the devastating incident.
Indian Prime minister, Narendra Modi expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and all close friends.
The devastating crash took place on Sunday evening in Vizianagaram. Per officials and reports gathered, it was revealed that three carriages of a train travelling between Visakhapatnam and Palasa, around 13:30 GMT were hit by another moving train.
The crash was as a result of a ‘break in an overhead cable’. Upon the incident, hundreds of doctors, nurses, and ambulances altogether with rescue personnel were sent to the scene of the incident. These people were sent to rescue survivors.
According to the Chief Relations Office of the East Coast Railway, Biwajit Sahu, the devastating incident was a result from a human error. This error was caused by the second train.
He again revealed that, about thirty-three (33) personal trains have been suspended and over twenty-two (22) has been diverted as a result of the accident.
According to the railway officials and experts, the affected trains (from the accident) should be cleared approximately by Monday evening.
The chief minister YS Jagan Mohan’s office also disclosed that they would visit the place of the incident on Monday morning. Additionally, there would be financial compensation to all the affected families and victims.
India, is ranked to have one of the largest train networks in the world as of 2023 with millions of its citizens using it daily.
Also, the accident which occurred on Sunday came just after months of the heart-wrenching train crash that killed about 292 people and got thousands injured in Odisha.
