Friendly Match: Black Stars to Face Mexico On Sunday
The Black Stars of Ghana will face Mexico National team in an international friendly match on Sunday, 15th October, 2023. The match will be placed in the United States. Also, there will be the friendly match against the US national team
Ghana coach Chris Hughton eagerly anticipates these matches a valuable test for the Black Stars
Hughton sees these two games as a prime opportunity for the Black Stars to evaluate their readiness for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers beginning in November, featuring Ghana’s matches against Comoros and Madagascar.
These friendly games also play a pivotal role in the team’s groundwork for the Africa Cup of Nations early next year, where they are set to face Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.

“It’s a good test for us. Of course, they are not games against African opponents and on African pitches, but that is the balance we have. We are here for two games where the oppositions will be favourites because they are playing at home, and it will be a big test for us,” he expressed to the Ghana FA media at the team’s base in Charlotte.
While the likes of Daniel Amartey, Alexander Djiku, and Tariq Lamptey have withdrawn from the squad, Ghana can rely on deputy captain Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, and Mohammed Kudus in the two games
The Black Stars of Ghana have been drawn in Group B for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations which will be hosted in Ivory Coast.
The West African giants have been grouped with African giants Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique
The Black Stars will be based in Abidjan where they will play most of their games at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium.

The top two countries will automatically advance to the Round of 16 stage with the third placed team advancing to the knockout stage based on ranking.
The tournament will start on the 13 January, 2024 and will end 11th February, 2024
