GES Emergency Warning Against SHS/SHTS/TVET Placement Scammers.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned the public, particularly candidates, and parents, to exercise caution with regard to fraudulent placement scammers who claim access to the placement system following the soon-to-be-released school placement of students who sat for the 2023 BECE.
The management of GES urged students who will be participating in the forthcoming national exercise to be vigilant and disregard claims made by some internet cafe operators who claim they can change the placement.
“The activity of some internet cafe operators claiming to have access to the computerized placement system last year came to our notice, we urge parents and students this year to be vigilant during the school checking,” an official of GES stated.

The unscrupulous cafe operators, the GES official said, lure the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates to pay an amount of money for their already placed or selected Senior High School to be changed to their preferred choice.
The GES official indicated the computerized school placement system (CSSPS) portal as part of measures to ensure the smooth placement of all successful 2023 BECE candidates has been secured and is not possible to be compromised.
“Any person who contacts you to pay any amount of money for your places or selected school to be changed or claims to have access to the school placement system or websites is a fraudster,” the GES staff said.
The official also encouraged parents and guardians to find time and take a keen interest in the selection of schools and school placement to ensure their wards are placed in a school to benefit from the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.
In a related development, the management of the Ministry in Charge of Education (MoE) says it is working together with various security agencies in the country this academic year to arrest computer school placement scammers.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) said in the release that “the public can be assured that the Ministry is collaborating with security agencies to ensure any group of individuals caught in this illegal act will be brought before the law.”
