GES Vehicle Maintenance Allowance For Teachers
News coming in indicates that the Ministry of Finance has given the Ghana Education Service some financial clearance for the payment of teachers’ Vehicle Maintenance Allowance.
This is a report by Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT). According to GNAT, about One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Three (1,803) Teachers in the Ghana Education Service will soon receive Vehicle Maintenance Allowance.
Following the financial clearance given, these 1,803 teachers will soon receive Vehicle Maintenance Allowance monthly.
This was revealed after GNAT National Council meeting held to discuss pertinent issues affecting teachers.
GES has revealed the basic requirements and necessary documents needed to be attached to the application letter when one is applying for the vehicle and kilometric allowance.
Applicants who do not follow this procedure are likely to get their applications delayed.
Requirements to Qualify for GES Vehicle Maintenance Allowance
- Senior Staff (Above salary level 16)
- Have spent Six (6) years in the service
- An applicant does not occupy a position where an official vehicle has been assigned
Applicants are to note that the above documents are to help sensitize all staff of the GES on the basic requirements to qualify one for the allowance.

- Municipa/ District Director Covering Letter
- Completed Personal Record form
- Recent Payslip
- STC Motor Engineer’s Report and Certificate of valuation
- DVLA Form A
- DVLA Form C
- Transfer/ change of ownership letter
- Certificate of insurance
- Roacworthy certifcate (front and back)
- First Appointment letter
- Highest Academic/Professional certificate
About Vehicle Maintenance Allowance monthly
According to the conditions of Service of Teachers within the Ghana Education Service, as agreed between the Ghana Education Service, Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) and the National Association of Graduate Teachers, (NAGRAT), Teachers are entitled to some allowances to enable them service their vehicles, motorcycles and bicycles depending on the rank of the teacher.
