GETFund most impactful education policy in Ghana’s 4th Republic – EduWatch
The Executive Director of Education Think Tank – Africa Education Watch (EduWatch), Kofi Asare has described The Ghana Education Trust (GETFund) as the most impactful education policy in Ghana’s 4th Republic.
In a social media post sighted by GhanaEducation.org, he said GETFund has provided the largest infrastructure funding to free Basic, free Senior High School & Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Tertiary education since AD 2000, enabling tens of millions to access education.
“I think GETFund is the most impactful education policy in the 4th Republic. It has provided the largest infrastructure funding to free Basic, free SHS & TVET and Tertiary education since AD 2000, enabling tens of millions to access education,” the EduWatch Director said in the post.
In other news, the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) through its administrator, Dr Richard Ampofo Boadu, has granted scholarships to awardees/finalists of the 2024 edition of the Ghana Teacher Prize (GTP).
The Administrator said the Board of Trustees of the Ghana Trust Fund decided in the 2022 academic year to provide this additional scholarship award to all the finalists of the Ghana Teacher Prize every year.
Dr Boadu further explained that the Most Outstanding Teacher Award Recipient shall be granted a master’s degree programme abroad whereas the rest will receive scholarships in the local universities for undergraduate, master’s and PhD.
He indicated that Madam Stella Gyimaah Larbi, the 2022 Overall Most Outstanding Teacher has just been granted financial assistance including air tickets, stipends and tuition fees to study at Bangor University, United Kingdom.
The GETFund official added that the opportunity is still available for the 2023 and the 2024 winners, should they decide to pick the offer.
