Sanitation Minister’s Blame on Victims of Dam Spillage
The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Freda Akosua Oheneafrewo Prempeh, faced public backlash after implying that the affected persons were at fault for not evacuating when warned.
She claimed that government agencies, including the Volta River Authority (VRA), National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), and Water Resources Commission (WRC), had educated and conducted simulation exercises to prepare the community for the spillage. She added that the affected individuals refused to leave, leading to their predicament.
