WAEC 2021 WASSCE and BECE: 5 Covid-19 safety measures out

WAEC has released the Covid-19 safety measures to be rolled out during the examinations out. The safety measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of candidates and invigilators during the conduct of this year’s WASSCE and BECE.

In an interview granted by Mr Godfred Addo, the Head of School Examination – WAEC, and monitored by Ghanaeducation.org, the officer of the examining council disclosed the outlined measures below have been put in place to ensure the successful conduct of the international examination;

Ghana’s covid cases are on the rise with active cases passing the 5000 mark already.

WAEC 2021 WASSCE and BECE: 5 Covid-19 safety measures out

1. All supervisors and invigilators will be provided hand gloves to enable them to thoroughly search the candidates before the start of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) each day.

2. Alcohol based-hand sanitizers will also be given to invigilators. Candidates and invigilators will be made to wash their hands under running water with soap before the start and after the conduct of the examination.

3. To ensure maximum social or physical distancing, each examination room or hall will contain no more than twenty-five (25) candidates depending on the size of a particular classroom.

4. Candidates are to report one (1) hour before the commencement of the WASSCE for School examination, according to the WAEC official, the Examinations Council will not tolerate lateness at the examination centre.

5. The wearing of face masks is mandatory for candidates, invigilators and supervisors. Candidates without face masks will not be allowed entry into the examination hall.

It is hoped that once these WAEC 2021 WASSCE and BECE 5 Covid-19 safety measures rolled out are adhered to, the examination will be carried out safely.
