Agyapong plans to enhance tourist safety, fortifying Kakum Forest with an electric fence and providing resources for animal inhabitants. He also envisions fixing roads and introducing protective measures for tourists against potential animal encounters.
Emphasizing his business acumen, Agyapong proposed leveraging the region’s resources, such as fertile lands and palm plantations, to create wealth and generate employment opportunities for the youth. His vision encompasses not leaving out the fisher folks and emphasizes the necessity for improved highways to facilitate regional progress.
Agyapong urged delegates to choose wisely in the upcoming NPP Presidential Elections, highlighting his track record of contributions to the region and the party’s successes in elections, vowing to lead an industrial transformation in the Central Region if entrusted with the responsibility.
“Why would tourists drive 2-3 hours back to Accra after visiting the famous Kakum Forest for a brief moment? This is because we don’t do the things that will attract these tourists to stay when they come to the region” he said.
“I will also make sure the road leading to the tourist sites is fixed and provide armoured trucks to transport tourists in the forest without any attack from the animals.
“Do you know the number of people that will get jobs? Our lands are very fertile and we don’t have factories in the region. We are even underutilizing the palm plantation we have in the region because more can be derived from the palm we produce,” he continued.
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong will contest for the flagbearership slot of the NPP along with three other contenders including Vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has slated November 4, 2023, to elect a successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as leader of the party. Kennedy Agyapong and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia are the key favorites to win the election on November, 4, 2023.
