How To Register for IELTS In Ghana – Simple Steps
Find out how to register for IELTS in Ghana, price of registration, venues, learning materials and many more.
The IELTS is a globally recognized English proficiency test that evaluates your ability to listen, read, write, and speak. If you intend to take the IELTS in Ghana, follow these steps:
Select Your Test Type and Centre
Determine whether you require the Academic or General Training version of the test based on your reason for taking IELTS. The British Council Ghana offers IELTS tests at four locations: Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, and Abidjan.
Check For Available Test Dates
Check the British Council Ghana website for available test dates. You can choose IELTS on paper or IELTS on computer, both delivered in official test centers.
Register Online
Create an account on the British Council’s official website. Follow the on-screen instructions to book and register for your IELTS test online.
Prepare Your Identification Documents
Ghanaians must have a valid national identification card or passport. Non-Ghanaians must present only a valid passport. Note that Student IDs, Voter IDs, and Driver’s Licences are not acceptable.
Complete Your Registration
Fill out the required information and upload your identification documents. Ensure that all information is correct to avoid problems on test day.
Pay The Test Fee
IELTS Academic or General Training tests cost GH₵ 3360, while IELTS for UK Visas and Immigration costs GH₵ 3360. Payments can be made online or at the bank, and online payments are confirmed immediately.
Confirm Your Registration
After payment, you will receive an email confirming your test date, time, and location. If you made a bank payment, it will be confirmed within two business days.
Prepare For The Test
Take advantage of the British Council’s free preparation materials. Practice tests are available to help you prepare for the reading, writing, listening, and speaking sections of the exam.
Take The Test
Arrive at your test center early and bring your ID. Follow all the instructions provided by the test centre staff.
Receive Your Results
Your IELTS test results will be available 13 days after the test date for the paper-based version and 3–5 days for the computer-based version.
