I Am Like A Trotro’s Mate As A Vice President- Bawumia
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana’s Vice President, gave an impassioned speech at UPSA outlining his revolutionary plans for the country’s future if he were to win the presidency in the 2024 election. The vice president, Bawumia, drew a comparison between his present position and that of a driver’s mate to stress his intention to take the “driver’s seat” and lead the country towards prosperity using the constitutional power bestowed to the president. During his speech, Bawumia emphasized his determination to implement a unique agenda that reflects his goals for the Republic of Ghana. In order to carry out his strategic plans, the Vice President stressed the significance of constitutionally mandated authorities.
Bawumia promised the crowd that he would prioritize the interests of the Ghanaian people and work to solve critical issues if elected president, as he laid out his plans for the country.
In his statement, Bawumia showed his commitment to building a better future for Ghana and his ability to think strategically. “Like a driver’s mate, I play the role of vice president. However, if I am blessed with the office of president, I will have the constitutional power to implement my agenda and realize my vision. What, therefore, are my goals, objectives, and plans for the future of the Republic of Ghana if I am blessed with the chance to become its president?
As I run for president of the Republic of Ghana, I have spent the last several months consulting with people and thinking deeply about the lessons learned over the past seven years, my goals, and my vision for the country. We obviously did not inherit the same starting conditions in 2017 as we will in 2025. Consequently, my focus will shift. I intend to seek ways to expand upon the many positive things that we have accomplished,” Bawumia said. Before the general elections of 2024, Bawumia used the event at UPSA to interact with the public and communicate his ideas.
