I Could Have Died; Story Of How A Mad Woman Saved My Life From A Horrific Accident (Fiction)
My name is Gyimah, and this the story of how a mad woman saved my life from a horrific accident few years ago. It may be a coincidence how this mad woman saved my life.
Life has been tough for me for some time now. I don’t really get the things I need since I am not from a wealthy family. Been on job haunting for years now still no avail.
Four years since after my Bachelors Degree in communication studies, I have been jobless till now. Tons of job applications, making to-and-fro and yet to receive no call for a interview.
Only God knows how I have managed to survive all these years without a job and a reliable source of income.
March 2021, I submitted my CV to reputable company for the role of Sales Marketer and Manager. I received a call for a scheduled interview as my CV met their requirements.
On the said day of the interview, it was a sunny day as I headed to the bus stop to board a car for my scheduled interview.
I could hear the call of the drivers mate calling in for passengers and the sweat of the ‘kayeye’ woman runs down her cheek to her dirty dress. I heard the quarrel of two mates fighting over a passenger at the bus stop, and you could see clearly how this work is tedious and involving.
I felt an ‘earthquake’ in my stomach, ‘I was really hungry and thirsty at the same time’. Rushed to the food vendor and joined a queue of no return.
Almost to my turn to buy this food, an old mad woman in a tattered and stinky dress came up to me and held my leg to give her money to buy food. I do not know what the future holds as I released some coins to her.
Surprisingly, this mad woman soiled my ironed white shirt with sand. My anger rose to the brim as I immediately run to the house to change my self only to see on the television that there has been a fire outbreak at the bus stop I just left.
The fire outbreak killed dozens of people at that instance. My heart fell to my stomach and had flashbacks of what happened earlier. I fell to my knee and thanked God for saving my life and prayed for strength for those who lost their loved ones.
What did you learn from this fictional story? What are the odds/probabilities that Gyimah would also have been involved in the fire outbreak? Or was it a mere coincidence? Share your thoughts.
