The member of Parliament for Assin Central constituency, Honorable Kennedy Agyapong, who is also NPP flag bearer hopeful has revealed that he studied Economics at the university and got the best grade.
Im an interview on Skyy Power 93.5 FM on Friday, Kennedy Agyapong debunked some statements made by some political science lecturers that Kennedy Agyapong has no Economics background. According to Kennedy Agyapong, what these lecturers expect is that every president of Ghana must have economics background.

“I heard some political science lecturers are saying that if you want to be president, at least you have to be an economist. Me I got 1 in economics, B in economics A-levels. I did Economics in Fordham university and mh GPA was 3.84 and I appeared in American Who is Who twice. What does Amakye know about me?” he said.

He also revealed that not all the past presidents of Ghana did Economics in a school. He mentioned Jerry John Rawlings as one former president who did no Economics in school but still performed extremely well as president.
“I can easily prove him wrong. Did Jerry John Rawlings do Economics in school., but when we speak about people who have ruled Ghana with formed hands and better development, we mention Rawlings’ name. So it tells you that Professor Amakye is wrong. I am going to create employment for the youths in this region and the whole Ghana.” he said

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong will contest for the flagbearership slot of the NPP along with three other contenders including Vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has slated November 4, 2023, to elect a successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as leader of the party. Kennedy Agyapong and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia are the key favorites to win the election on November, 4, 2023.
