I Will Introduce Streaming Platforms For Artists – Bawumia
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to introduce digital and streaming platforms specifically designed for Ghanaian artists.
These platforms aim to provide artists with greater visibility and accessibility to a global audience. The Vice President emphasized the potential of such platforms to transform the creative landscape and contribute significantly to the country’s cultural and economic growth.
Highlighting the symbiotic relationship between the creative industry and tourism, Dr. Bawumia underscored the importance of initiatives aimed at boosting both sectors simultaneously. He proposed tax incentives for film producers and musicians to encourage investment and innovation within the industry, ultimately leading to job creation and economic empowerment.
In line with efforts to enhance tourism, Dr. Bawumia announced plans to implement an e-visa policy for all international visitors to Ghana. This policy aims to streamline the visa application process, making it more efficient and accessible to travelers. By simplifying entry procedures, the government hopes to attract more visitors to the country, thereby stimulating economic growth and cultural exchange.
Dr. Bawumia reaffirmed the government’s commitment to previous initiatives such as the Year of Return and Beyond the Return. These initiatives, which aimed to commemorate Ghana’s historical significance and promote diaspora engagement, will serve as foundational pillars for future endeavors in the creative industry.
While Dr. Bawumia’s proposals align with promises made in the NPP’s 2020 manifesto, there have been concerns raised by stakeholders regarding the government’s track record in fulfilling past commitments. Despite pledges to establish a Creative Arts Fund and construct theaters in key cities, many of these promises remain unfulfilled, prompting criticism from within the creative community.
Dr. Bawumia’s vision for the creative industry represents a bold and ambitious agenda aimed at harnessing the full potential of Ghana’s cultural heritage. By leveraging digital innovation, promoting tourism, and fostering job creation, the government seeks to position Ghana as a global hub for creativity and cultural exchange.
