If you can’t attend nursing and teacher training without allowance, stay home -Kevin Taylor

Kevin Taylor has advised all SHS graduates who want to attend Nursing Training Colleges (NTC) and Colleges of Education (CoE) but are only ready to do so if they will be paid an allowance to stay home. His call comes at the back of statements made by the Minister of Education on the matter.
The Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, disclosed recently that the government has no intention of cancelling the current teacher allowances but rather will gradually introduce an improved student loan for the Nursing Training Colleges (NTC) and Colleges of Education (CoE), which are tertiary institutions currently but still undergoing development. He also indicated that the government can not continue to feed teacher trainees.
The new development is contrary to statements made by President John Mahama and the NDC prior to the December 7th, 2024 election. In a viral video of Kevin Taylor explaining the current developments, he argued that teachers and nursing trainees have no option but to go for the loans offered to tertiary students in Ghana.
“I agree with Hon. Haruna Iddrisu; if you are a tertiary student, go and take the loan; the government will not feed any student again,” he stated while putting forth his arguments.
He furthered that most of the students in CoE and NTC are old men and women who are operating provision shops at home. Kevin Taylor advises all students to consider taking the student loan offered to all tertiary students in the country.
“The government will not take care of SHS students and also take care of CoE and NTC students at the same time.” He added. Looking and speaking with so much anger, he questioned the reasons why they were in school and also operating businesses at home. According to him, no one was going to give them free food since they had enough free money to spend on data to trend on TikTok.

The students have been advised to take loans. According to Taylor, there are so many students at home who also want to be given admission and so, if some refuse to come, others will apply and gain admission.
