If you want to pass 2023 BECE, avoid these mistakes now
If you want to pass 2023 BECE, avoid the mistakes we are going to outline here. The Ghana Education News has been organizing Home and School Mocks nationwide since 2022 and has realized that JHS 3 or BECE candidates often fail or perform poorly during the BECE because they fail to avoid certain mistakes and habits.
In this post, we are going to echo these issues once more with the hope that parents, students, teachers, and schools will take them seriously and work together to improve the performance of their students during the preparation stage.

If you want to pass 2023 BECE as a student or school, keep reading this and take every suggestion seriously.
-
- Candidates must always write clear self-explaining sentences as answers in all subjects. In Social and RME, students must be able to provide information-rich answers and not mere sentences.
- When writing compositions in English, avoid long winding paragraphs. Candidates should learn to write shorter paragraphs that contain one idea at a time. Break longer paragraphs into shorter ones of not more than 5 lines.
- Check and read through your answers. This helps to avoid errors and increase your score.
- Teachers should teach students how to answer questions as part of preparation efforts for the BECE.
- Schools and teachers should let parents know how bad or good their wards are, and stop gifting students free marks in end-of-term examinations and mocks with the intention of making parents feel good. You are killing the students if you keep doing this.
- Many students in JHS3 now have forgotten many of the things they learned in JHS1 to JHS2 term 2. They must start revising these topics in all subjects. Teachers should also help.
- Schools must motivate teachers to give off their best. More work must go with more pay, as this can make teachers sacrifice more for the results the school wants to earn.
- Schools should institute good grade award schemes for teachers. Thus, there should be a rate to be paid to each teacher who obtains grades 1 and 2 through a BECE candidate. Such strategies can be a super motivating factor for teachers who would work hard to help every student get good grades at the BECE so that they can enjoy the rewards that come with the good grades made by their students.
- Students should have their personal timetables and start serious revision of Form 1 and Form 2 lessons.
- Solve past and likely examinations on Form 1 and Form 2 topics treated.
- Parents must show interest in the education of their wards. Invest in your JHS2 students more.
- Win them from excessive television, movies, video games, and mobile phones.
- Take the mobile phones from students as a parent and buy them past questions with answers for practice.
We hope these suggestions are considered by all stakeholders.
