The Council of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani announces for the information of the general public and interested applicants, vacancy for the following positions. Council hereby invites applications from qualified and interested applicants for the respective positions which would become vacant effective 1stAugust 2023:
THE POSITIONS: DIRECTOR OF INTERNAL AUDIT
Job Summary
• The Director shall be the Head of the Internal Audit Directorate of the University.
• He/she shall, in accordance with the Internal Audit Agency Act, 2003 (Act 658) and in conformity with standards and procedures provided by the Agency set up under the said Act, carry out periodic internal audit of the University.
• He/she shall report administratively to the Vice-Chancellor and functionally to the Audit Committee in accordance with the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 12).
Qualification Required & Experience
The Applicant must:
• possess both professional qualification and relevant postgraduate degree;
• be a member of any relevant professional Accounting and /Finance body, preferably:
a. Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA)
b. Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
c. Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
d. Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (CIIA)
e. Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
• have served in a University or analogous institution as Principal Internal Auditor/Deputy Internal Auditor for a minimum of three (3) yearsOR a minimum of fifteen (15) years post professional qualification experience in a university or highly reputable and recognized practicing Auditing/Accounting Firm, industry, commerce and/or public service, by 31st July, 2023.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
The person to be appointed to any of the positions above must:
• be dynamic, self- motivated, and competent with proven ability;
• be a team player with good interpersonal and communication skills;
• have the ability to exercise sound judgment;
• exhibit high sense of initiative, and managerial and organizational skills;
• have an entrepreneurial drive and be business oriented;
• be a distinguished professional with capacity to motivate and direct staff;
• be digitally literate.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
The Appointment, which is full-time, shall be for FIVE (5) YEARS in the first instance, and may be subject to renewal for another term of up to 5 years but not beyond the retiring age of 60 years. The successful applicant must be able to serve the full term of 5 years before attaining the compulsory statutory retirement age of SIXTY (60) years.
