Job Vacancy For IT Officer

A reputable non-bank financial institution is seeking to recruit a suitable person as an IT Officer.

General Objectives

• To assist the Head of IT for the smooth running of the company’s computer systems within the limit of requirements, specifications, costs and timelines.
• He will also assist with the supervision, implementation and maintenance of Ghana computing needs

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first line assistance to users within agreed time limits and ensure that all systems, process issues and incidents are logged and tracked using formal documentation
• Keep computer systems updated and running smoothly and ensure users get the maximum benefit from them
• Assist with the installation and configuration of computer hardware, operating systems and applications
• Talk staff or clients through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues
• Test, evaluate and support new technology and the roll-out of new applications as and when required
• Administer endpoint anti-virus solution and gateway firewall
• Setup new users accounts, profiles and resolve password issues
• Prioritise and manage multiple open cases until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate).
• Establish a good working relationship with customers and other professionals, such as IT service providers
• Troubleshoot system and network problems, conduct periodic preventive maintenance and perform systems diagnosis and safety checks on computer equipment
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

End of Term Exams

Qualification Required & Experience

• Relevant University Degree in Computer Engineering / Computer Science
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience directly related to the duties and responsibilites specified above
• Certification in Microsoft Systems Administration or CISCO (Cisco Certified Network Associate) will be an added advantage

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Server and Client Operating Systems including Active Directory and Hyper-V environments
• Knowledgeable in administering MS SQL Server database management system
• Knowledge of current trends and development in nformation technology
• Strong interpersonal, oral and communication skills and the ability to work effectively as a team player with excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Excellent reporting writing skills
