The National Democratic Congress’s promise to recover all state-looted resources has been given a boost following the formation of the preparatory team towards the President’s anti-corruption team towards Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL).
The president-elect, John Dramani Mahama, has formed a five-member preparatory team towards the incoming president’s anti-corruption drive.
The team is led by the re-elected member of parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who will serve as the chairman of the committee.
He would be supported by former Auditor-General Daniel Yaw Domelevo, who was forced to resign from his post by the outgoing president of Ghana Nana Akufo Add, retired Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathan Kofi Boakye, Martin Kpebu, a private legal practitioner, and Raymond Archer, an investigative journalist.
A statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson for the transition team for the President-elect, said, “As a preparatory measure towards the rollout of H.E. John Dramani Maham’s promise to recover proceeds of corruption and hold persons responsible for such corruption accountable when he assumes office, a team has been set up to receive and gather information from members of the public and other sources on suspected acts of corruption.
The statement added that ‘’anti-corruption, with Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) as a major plank, formed a core part of H.E. John Mahama’s policy platform in the 2024 campaign and intends to hit the ground running on these commitments.

The announcement by John Mahama of the establishment of an ORAL anti-corruption team has been greeted with excitement by Ghanaians. Many are hopeful that this team, along with its members working behind the scenes, will help recover all looted state resources taken by political appointees under the NPP government led by President Nana Addo and Dr. Bawumia.

Ahead of the December 7th election, the NDC and John Mahama indicated that the next NDC-led government will ensure that all individuals who have stolen state funds and assets are brought to book and that the stolen resources are recovered for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
