Kabaka Foundation supports UG Vice Chancellor’s laptop initiative

In the latest Ghana Education News, the Kabaka Foundation, in a strategic Corporate Social Responsibilities move, has donated 20 modern student laptops , 20 solar powered power banks and laptop bags to support university of Ghana Vice Chancellor’s “One Student, One Laptop (1S1L)” initiative.
Kabaka Foundation made this gesture as a commitment to attain the 4th SDG Goal, which is Quality Education.
According to University of Ghana’s management, the ‘One Student, One Laptop’ initiative, launched by the school’s vice Chancellor in 2021, is aimed at ‘supporting needy students in the new virtual learning space.
The One Student, one Laptop Initiative also tend to enhance both students and staff of University of Ghana digital division problem.
The Current chairman of the Kabaka Foundation, his Excellency Nana Owiredu Wadie I, who Frontlined the delegation to donate the laptops stated that their foundation is committed to supporting the VC’s initiative alongside providing scholarships for 10 brilliant but needy students every academic year.
According to Nana, the Sustainable Development Goals as proposed by the United Nations emphasized the importance of Quality Education, he emphasized that his foundation, is committed to supporting the less privileged.

He applauded the vice Chancellor’s initiative by saying “Laptops are an essential tool for learning and acquiring skills that would ensure students’ readiness for the world of work.”
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, who received the laptops on behalf of the university, thanked the donors for the kind gesture, saying “since we launched it, we have had 500 laptops. So the 20 laptops bring the total number of laptops received under the 1S1L initiative to five hundred and twenty (520 ).”
According to her, he initiative had three key components; Providing free Laptops for needy students, Partnering tech companies to establish a laptop assembling Plant and Equipping the University’s Computer Laboratories.
“The University of Ghana is very inclusive and embracing and so we have students from all kinds of backgrounds. So this initiative will ensure students and staff buy laptops at reasonable prices and also students who live with disabilities have access and are not hindered from getting digital skills,” she added.
She promised the foundation that the laptops donated would be of good use, and as a matter of fact the foundation should keep on helping this initiative.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo said the university had begun the process of distributing the laptops to beneficiaries and was confident that the students would put the laptops to good use.
