KNUST Opens Accommodation Booking for Freshers on December 16: How To Book

KNUST will open accommodation booking for freshers on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 1:00 pm. There is a video in this post on how to go through the process, but there are top key facts in the post you must know about before you make a move.

When the portal opens, it is going to be about the fastest fingers first.
The process determines where admitted students will live during the academic year.

Booking will be done online through the official KNUST accommodation portal.
Only students who have accepted their admission offers can proceed.

Freshers must pay their academic fees in full before applying for accommodation.
The university warns against paying academic and residential fees together.

Students are required to reserve accommodation before paying residential fees.
This step prevents payment errors and failed room allocations.

Applicants must log in using their application number and PIN.
The system will display available halls and accommodation options.

Students must read and accept the accommodation instructions before proceeding.
A reservation code will be generated after selecting an accommodation option.

Applicants must log out and pay residential fees at an approved paypoint.
Room selection becomes available only after residential fees are paid.

KNUST says the system is designed to ensure fairness and transparency.
Students are advised to follow instructions carefully to avoid disqualification.

The university is expected to provide updates as booking progresses.

Kumasi and Obuasi students can also apply for housing.

The application system opened on EC, 2025, at 1:00 PM.

However, there are private hostels under university supervision for students who may be interested.

1. Get Your Credentials Ready

You cannot log in without your admission details.

Have your Application Number and PIN ready before the portal opens.

These are found on your admission letter or the e-voucher you purchased.

  • Choose a Hall: Click on your preferred hall (e.g., Unity, Africa, Queens).

  • Select a Block: Pick a specific block within the hall.

  • Pick a Room: Click on an available room number.

If a room is full, the system will alert you. Do not hesitate—immediately try another room.

4. Confirm and Print

After clicking a room, a reservation code is generated instantly.

Print this slip immediately. This slip contains your Unique Reservation Code and the payment instructions.

5. Pay to Secure (The 24-Hour Rule)

Booking the room on the portal is only step one.

You must pay the residential fees at the designated bank within 24 to 48 hours.

  • Take your reservation slip to the bank.

  • Pay the exact amount indicated.

  • Keep your receipt safe; it is your final proof of occupancy.

If you miss the payment deadline, the system automatically revokes your room.

Important Note on Private Hostels

Missed a traditional hall? Do not panic.

Private hostels are available and supervised by the university.

You can often book these through the same portal or via specific private hostel websites linked on the page.
