Laikipia University has officially concluded its first-ever Academic Open Week, running from July 20th to July 24th, 2026. The five-day event was designed to bring student support services directly to the campus community, focusing on student-centred care, academic excellence, and active parental engagement.

Laikipia University is located in Kenya, with its main campus situated near Nyahururu in Laikipia County.

Throughout the week, students, parents, and guardians utilized a centralized hub to access a wide spectrum of administrative and student services under one roof. Attendees received direct support ranging from academic advising, fee assistance, and professional counselling to ICT troubleshooting and career guidance.

By streamlining these services, the university minimized bureaucratic hurdles, resolved long-standing student inquiries, and strengthened cross-departmental collaboration.

University leadership noted that the turnout reflects a broader institutional commitment to accessible, efficient, and responsive service delivery. The initiative underscores the university’s ongoing efforts to cultivate an enabling environment where every student is adequately supported to succeed.

About Laikipia University

Located along the Nyahururu-Nakuru Highway in Laikipia County, Laikipia University has a unique institutional history that spans nearly a century. The grounds originated in 1929 as a primary school before transitioning through various educational eras, including serving as a large-scale farmers training college and an animal husbandry institute.

In 1990, the institution became a campus of Egerton University to expand opportunities for teacher education, eventually operating as a constituent college before receiving its full independent charter in February 2013.

Today, operating under its motto “Seed of Wisdom, We Nurture and Transform for the World,” the fully chartered institution offers a diverse array of certificate, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across multiple faculties, serving thousands of students within a serene, high-altitude learning environment.
