Liverpool FC Responds To the Kidnapping Of Luis Diaz’s Parents
Premier League club, Liverpool FC, has issued a statement in response to the kidnapping of their winger, Luis Diaz’s, parents in Colombia.
The club has confirmed that the welfare of the player is the club’s “immediate priority”.
Luis Diaz’s parents were kidnapped on October 27, 2021, by armed men on motorcycles at a petrol station in the La Guajira region of Colombia.
The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, has confirmed that Luis Diaz’s mother was released on October 30, 2021, in the north of Columbia, while the search for his father is still ongoing.
Liverpool FC dropped the 26-year-old Colombia winger from the squad that took on Nottingham Forest on October 31, 2021, due to the incident.
Prior to the match, the club issued a statement stating they were “aware” of the “ongoing situation” involving the winger’s family.

The club added, “It is our fervent hope that the matter is resolved safely and at the earliest possible opportunity.”
Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s coach, also commented on the situation, describing it as a “worrying situation for all of us” and a “pretty tough night.”
He expressed hope that the matter is resolved quickly.
During Liverpool’s match against Nottingham Forest, Diogo Jota held up Luis Diaz’s shirt after scoring the match opener in the 31st minute of the encounter.
Darwin Núñez added a second goal for Liverpool four minutes later, and the first half ended with Liverpool leading 2-0 at Anfield.
The incident has sparked concern among Liverpool fans and the football community, with many expressing their support for Luis Diaz and his family.
Liverpool FC has assured fans that they are taking all necessary measures to support the player and his family during this challenging time.
