Peace Council Denies Bribery Allegations Made By Nogopko Spokesperson

The National Peace has denied bribery allegations made by the spokesperson of the Nogopko Traditional Council. The National Peace Council said it spoke with the Chief of Nogokpo on June 5, 2023, and issued him a “conflicts complaint form”, which he completed and returned on June 9, 2023. According to the National Peace Council, they never offered to pay $100,000 for the traditional council to drop the case.

Aside this, the National Peace council also met a Torgbiga Adamah III and his 13-member Traditional Council team, including Torgbi Saba V of Nogokpo and Torgbi Atsu-Gledza of Nogokpo-Agbakofe, to discuss the issue involving what Bishop Agyinasare said.

This comes after Nufialagah Mawufemor Kobla Nornyigbey, the representative and spokesperson of Nogokpo, made an allegation that certain chiefs who had come together to invite Archbishop Agyinasare, the leader of Perez Chapel International, have been influenced, resulting in their silence on the issue.

During an appearance on the Mama Grace show, Nufialagah Mawufemor disclosed that what started with noble intentions to address the matter involving Archbishop Agyinasare took an unexpected turn due to bribery attempts.

He detailed that when Archbishop Agyinasare was summoned to Nogokpo over his remarks characterizing the entire community as a “demonic headquarters,” several political figures reached out to him, offering a substantial $100,000 bribe.

“The way we had planned to handle this Agyinasare-Nokogpo issue, trust me, Nogokpo would have been a haven for investors and many opportunities,” Nufialagah Mawufemor expressed.

“As things progressed, I had to go live on Facebook to disassociate myself from the matter because people were looking up to me, and I didn’t want to be associated with taking a bribe,” he continued.

He also revealed that pastors, political leaders, and traditional leaders attempted to mediate, but the Nogopko community remained steadfast until compromises emerged.

Nufialagah Mawufemor further alleged that Togbui Adamah III, the Paramount Chief of the Volta Region and President of the Some Traditional Council, who was initially involved, distanced himself from their press conference, suggesting he had been compromised.

Background

In June 2023, the Chiefs of Nogokpo had summoned Archbishop Charles Agyinasare within 14 days, expressing their dissatisfaction with his comments describing Nogokpo as the headquarters of demons in the Volta Region.

Archbishop Agyinasare clarified his statement, emphasizing that he meant no harm to Nogokpo or its people, explaining that he was referring to a specific incident, not the town itself.

Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, the founder of the Perez Chapel International in one of his sermons, said Nogokpo is the headquarters of demons in the Volta Region of Ghana.
