Role Purpose for the Product Development Specialist At Vodafone
To create an environment which ensures that ideas and innovations are being entered into consumer and commercial opportunities. Coordinates and guides the process that ensures ideas and innovations are being refined and developed into consumable products and services. Collaborate with product and segment managers to take pipeline outputs to market.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership
1. Utilise products and services roadmap to plan and define scope for new products and innovation, in collaboration with Voice, Non-Voice, Pricing and Segment Marketing Managers.
2. Coordinate resource planning, prioritization and sequencing for a clear priority, in collaboration with all product and service managers.
3. Support Product Managers in the screening of proposals and new technologies; to guide business on initiatives to embark on, in-line with products and services roadmap for the financial year.
4. End-to-end management of product and initiative development pipeline and process, interfacing with Technology, Finance and Approval Matrix members to move processes forward.
5. Responsible for managing project documentation and proper record management of the product development process. Responsible for coordinating all stakeholders along the paper approval trail, ensuring fast progress at all times.
6. In collaboration with Business Risk function, conduct analysis and impact assessments for both new and ongoing initiatives, ensuring Vodafone is minimising risk with partners and consumers.
7. Managing risks as well as monitoring and reporting progress of new products and initiatives to Consumer Business Unit stakeholders.
8. Coordinate business partners and manage vendor relationships during onboarding, set-up/integration and launch processes, and ensuring proper handover to the relevant product or segment owner.
9. Ensure Quality control and assurance for new projects and initiatives.
10. Being part of impact analysis on new products and initiatives, in collaboration with Finance, Consumer and Technology function.
Core competencies, knowledge and experience
• Degree or equivalent in Business, Engineering, Project Management or Computer Science.
• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in marketing and/or product management in the telecommunications or ICT sectors.
• Broad general project management experience.
• Ability to juggle multiple stakeholders needs at all times.
• An ability to thrive in a high performing, fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical skills, including business cases, profit and loss analysis and decision analysis.
